Department of English

Introduction

The department of English was established with the establishment of the institution in 1960. Compulsory English was the only subject taught in those days. From the session 1988-1989 English Literature was being taught as one of the optional subjects. Majority of aspiring students got benefited by this and made their careers. In 1997-1998 P. G. Course M. A. [English] was started to cater the long standing demand of the students.

Recently RAC [Research Advisory Committee] is allotted to the department, which is, indeed, a matter of pride. The research scholars now have an opportunity to go for their doctoral research and get Ph. D. Dr. K. K. Mohadikar and Dr. M. S. Gaikwad are the recognized supervisors. The students of the department cleared examinations like PET/SLET and ranking themselves in the merit list of SGB Amravati University, Amravati and bringing laurels to the department and institution as well.

Mission

• To develop overall kinship with the literary figures and their works.

• To develop confidence in students to enhance English communication skills.

• To open new avenues for students to make them competent.
