Department of Mathematics

Introduction

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1971 with the establishment of science faculty. The noted Philanthropist of the town Late Sitaramji Chaudhari has donated substantially considering the need of science stream in the rural area.

Initially there was only pre- university class having the strength of 22 students. Prof. T. V. Warhekar was appointed in 1971 and joined on 23rd July 1971 as a full time lecturer and Head of the department. Since the department is doing steady progress to cater to the need of the changing world.

Prof. S. S. Tiwari has joined the college on 23rd July 1973. Prof. T. V. Warhekar retired on 30th Nov. 1993 and Prof. S. S. Tiwari became the Head of the Department.

Prof. V. S. Bawane has joined the Department on 06th Dec. 1993 as a lecturer. After the sad demise of Prof. S. S. Tiwari, Prof. V. S. Bawane has become the Head of the Department. Dr. R. S. Wadbude has joined the Department on 19th Jan. 2005 as a regular lecturer, till now.

The Department has organized a UGC sponsored state level seminar on “Recent development in relativity” (RDR-09) on Friday 18th Dec. 2009, in collaboration with R.R. Lahoti Science College Morshi, Department of Mathematics SGBAU and SGBAUMTA. The speciality of the seminar was the gracious presence of three Voice-Chancellors.

A first UGC sponsored university level seminar competition for UG students on “Calculus and Microcontroller” was organized Saturday, 19th Dec. 2009, in collaboration with Department of Electronics, Department of Mathematics SGBAU and SGBAUMTA. Also on 23rd Sept 2017 the department has organized university level seminar competition for UG students on “Advanced Calculus”. Ku Punam Takarkhede, from the department has secured ‘first prize’.

Two students from the department has participating university level seminar competition for UG students organized by various colleges affiliated to SGBAU, every year.

Department also provide research facility. Recently the department has started a research center (No. Z-1838) from the session 2018-19 onward.

Department has started P.G.Course (M.sc. Mathematics) from session 2022-23 with intake capacity of 30 students.
