Philosophy is being taught in the college right from the establishment of the college i.e. from 5th August, 1960. It is being taught as one of the optional subject of B.A. level. In the initial years, the college had the classes of pre-university but with a new pattern of the Maharashtra State Higher Secondary Board introduced in the year 1975, the junior college classes were attached to the college. The first person to be appointed as a lecturer in philosophy was Prof. P. D. Chaudhary. He worked in the college from 1960 to 1986. Prof. P. D. Chaudhary was the Principal of this college. Besides being a competent teacher as well as good Principal, Prof. P. D. Chaudhary was a Prolific writer. He wrote many books. Prof. P. K. Chaudhary assumed the charge as head of the department. He retired in the year 2005. Dr. S. A. Kalmegh is working from 1991. Dr. S. A. Kalmegh assumed the charge as Head of the department in the year 2005. The Department of Philosophy approved as research center for Ph.D.
